CANYON, Texas – The #2 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M plated 22 runs on 20 hits as they raced past the rival Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico in a Lone Star Conference doubleheader sweep on Friday night to open up Senior Weekend at Schaeffer Park in Canyon. The Lady Buffs move to 42-2 (24-2 LSC) on the season while ENMU falls to 11-33 (3-19 LSC) with the losses.

The Lady Buffs clinch atleast a share of their third straight LSC Title with the two wins along with league losses by Cameron and Texas Woman's on Friday night. WT senior right hander
Tori Bayer also made her mark on Senior Weekend as the Floresville native tied an LSC single-season record for saves with eight.

The Lady Buffs and Greyhounds return to action tomorrow afternoon as WT looks to clinch the outright LSC Title with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. in Canyon. With the results of other action around the league on Friday night, WT is guaranteed atleast a share of the league crown with just one win needed tomorrow to claim it outright. Â

GAME #1
Lacey Taylor started off the second inning with a four-pitch walk followed by an
Ashley Hardin laser down the left field line for a single, the runners moved up 60 feet with a wild pitch followed by a strikeout before
Andrea Sitter layed down a bunt single in front of the plate to load the bases with one out. A fly ball to center was too shallow to score a run before
Brittany Cruz launched a grand slam into the Buff Corral in left center to give the Lady Buffs the 4-0 lead after two complete innings.

The Lady Buffs added to their lead in the home half of the fourth with a pair of walks and a
Shayne Starkey single up the middle to load the bases with one out,
Brittany Gehle made her mark on Senior Weekend as the Frisco native launched a grand slam over the black monster in left field to run the WT lead to 8-0. The Greyhounds plated their only run of the game in the top of the fifth inning as Marleyna Pinon triple to right field followed by a Natasha Kissell RBI single up the middle to make it 8-1, WT responded in the home half of the fifth as Sitter ended the game with her first career homerun with a blast to straight away center field to end the game 9-1.

Kilee Halbert picked up the win (17-1) for the Lady Buffs, giving up one run on three hits with no walks and three strikeouts in the complete game win.

GAME #2
Eastern New Mexico started off the scoring in the top of the first inning as they plated three runs with two outs in the inning as Morgan Green lifted a three-run homerun down the left field line over the foul pole and onto the batting cages for the early 3-0 lead. WT responded in the bottom of the second inning as Starkey doubled to center field to drive in Sitter followed by a Cruz bloop double to right field to cut the lead to 3-2.

ENMU added to their lead in the top of the fourth inning as they continued to produce with two outs as Katie Ripple doubled to the base of the black monster to extend the WT lead to 4-2. WT responded again in the bottom of the fourth inning as they put runners on second and third with one out before Cruz laced a single to third base to score Sitter from third and cut the lead to 4-3, Gehle followed with a walk to load the bases followed two batters later by an Ibrahim two run single up the middle. WT wasn't done yet as
Lacey Taylor singled off of the right field wall to drive in a run followed by a Hardin double to straight away center field to run the score to 8-4.

Eastern wouldn't go down without a fight as they plated another run with two outs on a Susannah Chandler double to the left center field gap to knock
Alexis Alfonso from the game, senior
Tori Bayer entered and it was business as usual as the right hander from Floresville registered a strikeout to end the frame with WT leading 8-5. The Lady Buffs responded as Cruz tripled to the right center field gap to score Starkey from first base followed by a Gehle single up the middle to run the lead to 10-5, WT used the long ball to add to their lead as Ibrahim launched a ball to the deepest part of the park in right center to run the score to 12-5.

The Lady Buffs would end the game in the home half of the sixth as Gehle drove a ball up the middle to score Sitter from third base and give WT the 13-5 win. Alfonso picked up the win (9-0) in the circle for the Lady Buffs, giving up five runs on seven hits with no walks and a strikeout in her 4. 2 innings of work while Bayer entered and picked up the save, giving up no runs on no hits with one walk and three strikeouts. The save gives the senior her eighth of the season to tie a Lone Star Conference single-season record with Amanda Payne (SEOSU, 1997), Shelbey Cockrell (WT, 2010) and Larisa Garcia (TWU, 2012).
