Biography

2020 (Senior):  Played and started in all 23 games before season was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic… Had a .266 batting average with 17 hits including three doubles, a triple and home run for a .391 slugging percentage… Recorded 13 RBI and 15 runs… Had 25 total bases and stole seven bases on nine attempts… Had a .342 on-base-percentage with eight walks… Recorded her 33rd career home run to move up to tie former Lady Buff Alyssa Lemos at sixth on the Lady Buffs record book… Had a 1.000 fielding-percentage on 24 chances in the outfield with 22 putouts…

2019 (Junior): Started and played in all 47 games for the Lady Buffs… Was named Third-Team All-Lone Star Conference… Posted a .296 batting average with 42 hits including eight doubles and nine homeruns for a slugging-percentage of .556… Registered 33 RBI for WT… Held a .556 on-base-percentage… Stole one base against Tarleton (4/27)… Set a career-high .974 fielding-percentage… Recorded a season-high four RBI against Eastern New Mexico (4/6)… Had a season high five putouts against Tarleton (4/27)…

2018: Cruz spent a season away from the Lady Buffs in 2018.

2017 (Sophomore):
Cruz started 53 games in the outfield for the Lady Buffs during her sophomore season in 2017. The strong-armed outfielder hit .258 on the season with six doubles, two triples and eight homeruns with 67 total bases to drive in 31 RBI while scoring 128 runs for a slugging percentage of .523, Cruz walked 21 times for an on-base percentage of .366 to go along with 38 putouts and seven assists with just two errors in the outfield for a fielding clip of .967.

2016 (Freshman):
Cruz registered one of the best true freshman seasons in Lady Buff history in 2016 as the New Braunfels native hit .333 with 14 doubles, four triples and 15 homeruns to drive in 67 RBI and tally 127 total bases for a slugging percentage of .706 while walking 18 times and stealing a pair of bases for an on-base percentage of .385. In the outfield, the talented freshman registered 59 putouts with 10 outfield assists and just seven errors for a fielding clip of .908. Cruz proved herself as a big-game player on February 27th as she went 3-for-4 at the plate against then #10 Tarleton State to drive in six RBI with a pair of homeruns as she picked up LSC Hitter of the Week honors for her performance. She was named the Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Year and a member of the All-LSC 2nd Team while picking up 1st Team D2CCA All-South Central Region accolades while becoming just the second freshman in program history to be named an All-American (D2CCA 3rd Team).
 
At New Braunfels High School:
Cruz joined the Lady Buffs following a standout prep career at New Braunfels High School where she played shortstop and the outfield for the Unicorns under head coach Andrew Schmid. She was a four-time All-District performer for the Unicorns while also being named the District Newcomer of the Year in 2012. During her career in the Hill Country, Cruz was selected to the Comal and South Texas High Scholl All-Star Game.
 
Personal:
Born February 8th. Cruz is the daughter of Eno and Valerie Cruz and she has two siblings, Jacob and Brianna. She has a daughter named Leah Danielle.  She is majoring in General Studies at West Texas A&M.
