The ten runs by LCU was the first time the opposition scored 10 or more runs in an inning since Wayland Baptist scored 12 runs in the sixth inning in the Buffs' 20-13 win on Apr. 9, 2013 in Plainview. LCU was led by Hunter McFall who went 3 for 4 with three RBI and a run scored, while four other Chaps each had two hits. WT now is 14-36 all-time against LCU and had its two-game winning streak snapped as the Buffs won both meetings last season. The two teams will play in Canyon Apr. 12 at 6 p.m. at Wilder Park.
WT loaded the bases in the top of the second with one out, but were unable to bring anyone around which turned out to be a trend for the day as WT had the bases loaded three times and left 13 runners on base in the contest. WT got a leadoff single from Day in the second and a single from De La Paz. Junior
Roberto Carrasco reached on the first of two errors by the Chaps to load the bags. LCU starter Alberto Aveytia (1-0) got out of the jam with a strikeout and a ground out.
Buff starter, junior Josh Payne (0-1), retired the first six Chaps, but Brett Wilhelm singled to begin the bottom of the third as the Chaps put together timely hits through both sides of the field as Payne gave up eight earned runs on eight hits in the inning finishing the game pitching 2.1 innings. Thomas Garland pitched a third of an inning and redshirt freshman
Dominic Yearego got the final out of the inning as he went 1.1 innings, allowing five hits, three earned runs on two home runs.
De La Paz singled to begin the fourth and Reese followed with a single and De La Paz advanced to third on an error. Carrasco was plunked by a pitch, while junior

Mason Shiflett scored the second run as the Buffs again left the bases loaded for a 10-2 score.
LCU added three runs in the fourth on a two run home run by Wilhelm and a solo shot by Chase Simmons.
WT added a run in the fifth leaving the bases loaded once again as junior
Hunter Henderson drove home Day with the bases full for a 13-3 score. WT reliever, junior
Colby Price, pitched the final two innings of one-hit baseball for the Buffs.
