CANYON, Texas. – The West Texas A&M men's soccer team will play on the road for the first time in nearly a month when they travel to Lubbock Christian on Thursday, Oct. 20. After taking on the Chaps, the Buffs will return home for their final home match of the 2016 regular season on Saturday, Oct. 22 against rival Eastern New Mexico. The five seniors, Tom Vickers,
Tom Cowling,
Christian Suthers,
Jake Wiffen and
Ryan Kennedy, will all be honored before the match against ENMU.

What is Next?...
The Buffs will finish the regular season with two crucial road matches against UT Permian Basin and Eastern New Mexico. WT will travel to Odessa on Thursday, Oct. 26 before making the short trip to Portales, N.M. to play ENMU for the second time in seven days.

About Lubbock Christian…
Before dropping a 5-1 decision to St. Mary's, the Lubbock Christian men's soccer team had won their past two matches by a combined score of 2-0. The Chaps are 4-0-1 on the season when they hold teams scoreless but are 0-9-0 when they allow one or more goal.
As a team the Chaps have been outscored 24-12 through 14 matches this season while four different players have scored two goals. Mickey Brunton is one of those players with two goals as the senior midfielder also leads the team in assists (3), points (7), shots (32) and shots on goal (9). Fernando Rios has started all 14 matches in goal for LCU picking up five shutouts. The sophomore from Dallas, Texas has made 54 saves on 209 shots faced for a save percentage of .692.

The Series with Lubbock Christian…
The Buffs and Chaps will meet for the fifth time in school history. The series is tied 2-2-0 including LCU winning the teams only match in Lubbock in 2014.

Last Time Around…
The Buffs came back from one down to beat the Chaps 2-1 on Sept. 29 at The Pitch thanks to Troy Reeve's second half header. LCU's Edwin Regules scored a wonder goal from 30 yards out in the 15
th minute before
Filip Janjic equalized just minutes after coming in the 42
nd minute. Reeves scored the game-winner in the 66
th minute on a throw in from Janjic from the right side.

About Eastern New Mexico…
The Greyhounds are on a season-high six match unbeaten streak after battling to a draw with #6 St. Edward's after playing the last 30 minutes with 10 men. Robert Raspudic and Luis Lozoya are tied for the team lead in goals with two while 10 other Greyhound have contributed one goal. Raspudic, Ryan McManus and Robbie Leonard all have two assists  James Gutierrez has started 12 matches in goal for the Greyhounds but will have to sit out Thursday's match after picking up a red card against SEU. The sophomore has made 63 saves on 177 shots faced for a .808 save percentage.

The Series with Eastern New Mexico…
The Buffs and Greyhounds will meet for the 25
th time in school history. WT leads the all-time series 15-6-3 including a 9-3-0 at home. Â

A Look Back…
The Buffs went 1-1 last week with a tough loss to No. 6 St. Edward's before rebounding with a 2-0 victory over Dallas Baptist on Saturday afternoon. WT was unable to find any offense against the Hilltoppers as they were held to a season-low two shots on goal. SEU scored the only goal of the match early in the second half before holding off a late rally from the Buffs. Junior goalkeeper
Patrick Satorie made a season-high six saves in the loss.
Reece Schattle picked up his first career goal in the win over DBU as
Jake Wiffen scored his second brace of the season in the second half on an absolute beauty of a free kick. Satorie made one save to earn his eighth save of the season and 18
th of his career. The Victoria, Australia native now ranks second in shutouts in a single season and career heading into the final four matches of the season.

Around the West Division…
Heading into the final four matches of the season the Buffs are 10 points clear of Eastern New Mexico in overall conference play while UT Permian Basin and WT are tied with four division points each. The next four matches will decide who wins the division and earns the automatic bid into the conference tournament.

Heartland in the Rankings…
St. Edward's moved up to No. 3 in the latest NSCAA NCAA Division II Men's National Poll after defeating WT and tying with ENMU last week. Midwestern State dropped four spots to No. 19 after winning both of their matches last week.

On the Road Again…
The Buffs will play a game away from The Pitch for the first time since Sept. 24 when they defeated St. Mary's 3-0 in San Antonio. After six straight home matches, WT will finish the season with three of their final four matches on the road starting with Thursday's match at LCU. The Buffs are 3-2-0 on the road this season.
