CANYON, Texas – The Lone Star Conference race should look a little clearer following two big league matches at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon this weekend as three of the top four teams in the league standings will face-off as Tarleton State and Angelo State come to town. The Lady Buffs and TexAnns will face-off on Friday night with first serve set for 7 p.m. followed by a rematch of the last two South Central Regional Finals as the Belles of Angelo State come to Canyon on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
WEST TEXAS A&MThe Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M hit .283 as a team as they registered their 27th straight Lone Star Conference victory dating back to the 2012 season on Tuesday night as they swept the visiting Aggies of Cameron University (25-18, 25-12, 25-22) in front of over 400 fans at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon, Texas. The Lady Buffs were led offensively by
Lauren Bevan with 15 kills followed by
Kameryn Hayes with 11 and
Cori Haley with seven, Hayes dished out a team high 30 assists for the double-double while
Kyli Schulz had 16 on the night,
Lauren Britten led all players with 21 digs while
McKenzie Long tallied nine in her first start as a Lady Buff. West Texas A&M hit .283 as a team with 51 kills on 120 attempts with 17 attack errors to go along with 47 assists, 61 digs and six total blocks on the night.

Jason Skoch, the 2013 LSC and South Central Region Coach of the Year, is now in his sixth season at the helm of the Lady Buffs, carrying an overall career record of 314-48 (.868, 11th year) including a 178-28 (.863) mark in Canyon.
THE 2014 SCHEDULEThe Lady Buffs will play 33 scheduled matches during the regular season including 16 Lone Star Conference contests, the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" will see a total of 13 regular season contests during the season with eight of those coming in league play. The 2013 Lady Buffs finished the season with an overall record of 35-4 with a perfect 16-0 mark in LSC play to claim the league title while going 22-0 in the friendly confines of "The Box".
HOME SWEET HOMEThe WTAMU Fielhouse "The Box" boasts one of the most successful home-court advantages in the history of NCAA Volleyball on any level. WT is an amazing 424-61 all-time at The Box for a winning percentage of over 88%.

50 YEARS OF LADY BUFF VOLLEYBALLThe 2014 season marks the 50th year of Lady Buff Volleyball. The Javelinas of Texas A&M-Kingsville will travel to Canyon on October 18th for a matchup during the WT Volleyball 50 Year Celebration at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon. Former team members and boosters will return to Canyon for a celebration including a meet & greet, anniversary reception along with recognition during WT's match with Texas A&M-Kingsville.
THIS WEEK IN THE LONE STAR CONFERENCELone Star Conference volleyball teams are 63-43 overall this season. The squads are currently 15-11 combined versus Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, and 6-5 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other leagues in the NCAA South Central Region. Angelo State and West Texas A&M remain unbeaten in league action followed by Tarleton State (4-1), Texas Woman's (4-1), Eastern New Mexico (1-2), Texas A&M-Kingsville (1-3), Texas A&M-Commerce (1-3), Cameron (1-4) and Midwestern State (0-5).
TARLETON STATEThe Tarleton State TexAnns enter the weekend with an overall record of 10-2 with a 4-1 mark in LSC play following a non-conference sweep of Southeastern Oklahoma State on Tuesday night in Stephenville. TSU's 10-2 start ties the best start to a season in program history through the first 12 games, matching the 2010 campaign. The TexAnns are led offensively by Hailey Roberts with 187 kills for an average of 3.90 per set to rank third in the LSC while teammate Kenya Alexander leads the league in blocks with a total of 74 for an average of 1.45 per frame. Tarleton State is guided by 10th year head coach Mary Schindler, she has compiled a 156-126 overall record with the TexAnns, having made the LSC Tournament in seven of her nine seasons including four straight postseason berths.
THE SERIES VS. TARLETON STATEThe Lady Buffs lead the all-time series against the TexAnns 40-2 with WT taking the last four meetings between the two teams. The last TSU win came on Sept. 28, 2012 in Canyon in a five set thriller while the TexAnns registered their first ever win over WT on Sept. 17, 2011 in Stephenville. The loss to Tarleton in Canyon back in 2012 is the last LSC loss for the Lady Buffs as they have won their last 27 league contests.
ANGELO STATEThe Belles of Angelo State enter the weekend with an overall record of 9-1 with a perfect 4-0 mark in league play to sit atop of the LSC standings following a sweep at home over Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday. The Belles are led offensively by Mallory Blauser with 136 kills for an average of 3.89 per set to rank four in the league while teammate Alexa Johnson leads the league in assists with a total of 430 to averge 11.62 per frame for ASU. Angelo is led by seventh year head coach Chuck Waddington guided the Belles to the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Finals for the second consecutive season in 2013. ASU will face-off with Easter New Mexico on Friday night in Portales before traveling to Canyon on Saturday.
THE SERIES VS. ANGELO STATEThe Lady Buffs and Belles have battled alot over the last few seasons as WT carries an overall record of 53-15 against Angelo State into this weekend's matchup with WT taking the last six meetings. The Lady Buffs have topped the Belles in the last two South Central Regional Title matches including a four set win last year at the WTAMU Fieldhouse in Canyon. WT has topped the Belles in their last 22 visits to "The Box" dating back to Nov. 6, 1993 including three times last season.
