The West Texas A&M University women's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 double overtime loss to Angelo State University Friday afternoon. San Angelo, Texas continues to be the demise of the Lady Buffs as the only four losses to ASU in the program's history have come there. WTAMU has not won at ASU in the last three trips.
The lone goal of the match came with just over a minute left in the second overtime, (118:53), by the Rambelle' Amanda Walsel. This was Walsel's only shot on goal for the match.
As the score would suggest, the match was fairly even as WTAMU took 12 shots to ASU's 14. While the Lady Buffs were outshot overall, WTAMU had eight shots on net compared to only five for the Rambelles.
WTAMU moves to 8-3-0 on the season and 2-2 in Lone Star Conference play. The Lady Buffs continue their road trip with a doubleheader with the men's team at Midwestern State University on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.
WTAMU continues LSC action at home Friday Oct. 22 taking on East Central University at 1 p.m. at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium.
