Freshman midfielder Sarit Shenar continued her immediate success for the West Texas A&M University women's soccer team, scoring another pair of goals, at the Lady Buffs gored Fort Lewis, 4-1, Wednesday, at Durango, Colo.
Sophomore forward Whitney Cates had a goal and two assists for WTAMU, who outshot the Skyhawks, 16-8, getting 10 on goal.
Junior netminder Jamie Griffis had two saves, as only three FLC shots were on goal.
Shenar had two goals in her WTAMU debut in Friday's 3-0 win over Southwestern Oklahoma, giving her four goals in two games. She is tied with Cates for goals on the team.
Fort Lewis scored in the 16th minute, before Cates found the net in the 34th minute to tie it up. Redshirt-freshman forward Dania Lopez scored what would be the game-winner in the 42nd minute off an assist from Cates, as WTAMU took a 2-1 lead into halftime.
Shenar iced the game with a header off a pass from Cates in the 68th minute and shook the net again in the 77th minute off an assist from senior midfielder Ashleigh Scott.
The Lady Buffs (4-1 overall) continue their three-match tour of Colorado on Friday, at Denver, Colo., taking on unbeaten and No. 1 in the Southwest Region, Metro State, in a rematch of last year's Regional quarterfinal match, won by Metro State on double overtime penalty shots.
