CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Buffaloes travel to Quintana Roo, Mexico as they look to defend their title championship at the Shootout at PGA Riviera Maya starting on Monday.
 
WT is playing in their third tournament of the fall as they are coming off a team total of 844 (-8) to finish tied for sixth last week at the San Juan Intercollegiate. David Vega Gerstel was named the Lone Star Conference Golfer of the Week as the sophomore carded rounds of 72, 64 and 68 for a -9 (204) to finish tied for fifth.
 
Last season saw the Buffaloes win the Shootout at PGA Riviera Maya by 10 strokes with rounds of 299, 300 and 294 for an 893 (+29). A pair of Buffs finished inside of the Top-10 led by Victor Estas in third overall (220, +4).
 
The nine-team field in Mexico features UT Dallas, UT Tyler, Lubbock Christian, Western New Mexico, Colorado Mesa, UT Permian Basin, WT, Cal State East Bay and Texas A&M-Texarkana.
