CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M's Carlos Fernández Mortera has been named the Lone Star Conference Men's Golfer of the Week announced on Thursday afternoon by the league's offices in Richardson, Texas.
 
The senior carded a 7-under 74-67-68—209 to win the individual title by one stroke at the Travis Roy Memorial at The Powder Horn Golf Community in Sheridon, Wyoming. Mortera had a tournament-best 18 birdies. His par-four (3.90) and par-five (4.42) scoring averages also led the field of 72 golfers. Mortera's play helped the Buffs to a fourth-place finish.
 
The Buffs return to the course on September 21-22 as they travel to Montrose, Colorado to take part in the San Juan Intercollegiate hosted by Colorado Mesa at The Bridges Golf & Country Club.
