CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M's David Vega Gerstel sits fourth on the individual leaderboard following rounds of 72 and 64 during Monday's action at the San Juan Intercollegiate at The Bridges Golf 7 Country Club (Par 71 – 7,017 Yards) in Montrose, Colorado.

The sophomore registered 12 birdies during his first 36 holes highlighted by eight birdies during the second round on his way to a 64 (-7). The 64 tied for the lowest round of the day as Bradley Mulder of Colorado Christian had seven birdies and an eagle to match Vega Gerstel's 64 during his opening round to sit tied atop of the leaderboard.

Álvaro Trujillano (65) and Carlos Fernández Mortera (70) both shot in the red during the second round as the Buffs finished with a 271 (-13) to improve their score from the opening round by 24 strokes. WT registered 40 birdies, one eagle and 100 pars during the opening two rounds.

Colorado Christian fired rounds of 268 and 273 for a team total of 541 (-27) to hold a 15-stroke lead over Western New Mexico (-11) headed into Tuesday. The Buffs will be paired with Cal State Monterey Bay and Texas A&M International during the final round with a shotgun start beginning at 10:00 a.m. CT.
