CANYON, Texas - West Texas A&M's David Vega Gerstel has been named the Lone Star Conference Men's Golfer of the Week announced by the league's offices in Richardson, Texas on Thursday afternoon.

The sophomore carded a 9-under 72-64-68—204 to post a top-5 finish at the San Juan Intercollegiate at The Bridges Golf & Country Club in Montrose, Colorado. Gerstel, who is the reigning LSC champion, tied for the lowest round of the tournament with his 64. He had 17 birdies overall with eight of them coming in that round. Gerstel also tied for the best par-five scoring average (4.17) in the field of 75 golfers.
