CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M started their spring season with an 11
th place at the Texas State Invitational at Landa Park Municipal Golf Course in New Braunfels, Texas.
Mia Hammerschmid led the Lady Buffs, tying for 19th place with a total score of 223 (+7). Her consistent performance included a final round of 73 (+1), marking her best round of the tournament. Hammerschmid displayed consistency across the rounds, opening with a 74 (+2), following with a 76 (+4), and concluding with a 73 (+1).
Sarah Reed also contributed significantly, tying for 22nd with a total score of 224 (+8). Reed's performance included an even-par 72 in the first round, the best individual round for the Lady Buffs. Other notable performances included
Charlee Thacker, who finished tied for 53rd at 236 (+20), and
Ryan Purczynski, who ended tied for 71st with a score of 243 (+27).
The host Bobcats claimed the team championship with a score of -18 (846) to claim a 27-stroke victory over Tarleton State. Louise Depadt of TSU won the individual crown with rounds of 70, 64 and 71 for a 205 (-11).
The Lady Buffs return to the course on February 16-17 as they take part in the UCO Southern Invite at Cypresswood Golf Club in Spring, Texas.
