CANYON, Texas – The #12 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M picked up their first team and individual victory of the season on Tuesday afternoon as they shot a 857 (+5) to win the WT Fall Invitational at the La Palomo Course (Par 71 – 5,804 Yards) at Tascosa Golf Club.
Sarah Reed led the way for the Lady Buffs as the junior fired rounds of 73, 68 and 68 for a 209 (-4) to tie with Cameron's Maria Jose Savoca. Reed would win the individual crown on the first playoff hole with a birdie on the 366-yard par four ninth hole.
Monica De Valle Pena continued to impress as the freshman shot a 210 (-3) including a 68 (-3) during the final round to finish tied for third. The Lady Buffs finished the event with 116 pars, 44 birdies and three eagles. WT did their damage on the longer holes as they registered a scoring average of 4.80 on par-fives.
The Lady Buffs return to the course on October 6-7 as they take part in the NCAA National Preview hosted by Palm Beach Atlantic University at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach, Florida.
