CSC Academic All-America Teams

GREENWOOD, Ind. – On Tuesday morning, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) recognized West Texas A&M softball student-athletes
Emilee Boyer and
Heidi Vortherms as Academic All-Americans. Boyer and Vortherms were two of 33 players to earn All-America distinction with Boyer receiving First Team honors while Vortherms earned a spot on the Second Team.

The Division II Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Division II Academic All-
America® program.

Boyer finished the 2025 season with a .470 batting average, a .952 slugging percentage and a .581 on-base percentage. She leads the team and the nation with 22 home runs, a nation-leading 90 RBIs, and 35 of her 79 hits are for extra bases. In the circle, Boyer was 28-4 in 40 appearances with 13 complete games, two saves and a 2.40 ERA. She struck out 236 batters and had five complete game shutouts.

Vortherms posted a 2.05 ERA with 135 strikeouts in 133.1 innings pitched over 35 appearances and 28 starts. The Sioux Falls, S.D. native finished the season with a 20-3 record with five complete games and two shutouts with opponents hitting .234 against the senior pitcher.

The Lady Buffs finished the 2025 campaign with a 56-8 record including 40-4 in Lone Star Conference play, claiming a share of the regular season title. In postseason play, WT made the LSC Tournament Championship game, hosted and won the South Central Region II bracket, and advanced to the South Central Super Regional round before falling to No. 1-ranked UT Tyler in a best of three series.
