CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M men's basketball head coach
Tom Brown has announced the addition of Barton Community College transfer Fontaine Williams for the 2025-26 campaign.
"Fontaine is a great young man who can play at a very high level. He sees the floor and really understands the game on both ends of the court. Fontaine has a fantastic change of pace and is a scoring guard that can play on and off the ball" said Brown "Defensively he reads passing lanes and does a great job of rotating on help side. He is a tough, strong player who does all the little things to make a team better. Fontaine is a scorer but can also really fill it up from beyond the arc. We look forward to having Fontaine in Canyon, TX this year. He will be a fantastic addition to our club!"
Williams joins the Buffs following one season at Barton Community College where he appeared in 32 games with six starts for the Cougars. The talented guard went 123-of-285 (43.2%) from the floor including 55-of-123 (44.7%) from behind the arc to average 11.1 points per contest while grabbing 72 rebounds along with 60 assists, 28 steals and a pair of blocks. Williams spent his freshman campaign at Seward County CC in Liberal.
The Wichita, Kansas product registered a standout prep career at East High School and Derby High School. He was a First Team All-City selection at guard while also claiming Honorable Mention All-State and Second Team ACVTL accolades.

We couldn't be prouder of him, and we know he'll make a significant impact right away."
