CANYON, TEXAS – West Texas A&M men's basketball head coach
Tom Brown has announced the addition of Australia product Joel Robinson for the 2025-26 campaign.
"Joel is a great young man that will only make our team and program better. He is a competitor and has a great understanding of the game" said Brown "We have seen his leadership on film and in person. He is player that you want to play with as he makes players around him better, Joel will only get better in our program. The sky is the limit for him. We are excited to welcome Joel Robinson to the Buff Family."
The Phillip Island, Victoria native played for Victoria Navy during the Australian Junior Championships in 2025, winning a gold medal. He also participated in the Australian Performance Camp in 2024 while representing his country in both the U17 World Cup as well as the U18 China Invitational.
"Joel's performance on tour in front of college coaches highlighted the full versatility of his game. A bigger, smart guard who can take over a game, Joel knows how to score at all three levels, defend multiple positions and compete with toughness and composure. He led his team to strong performances against Pro16 and NXTPro opposition across Kansas City and Tulsa, further cementing himself as one of the top Australian prospects in the class of 2026." Jordan Mullan, Program Director of AUSA Hoops
The 6'4 guard was named the Victoria Male Basketball Athlete of the Year in 2025 while also being honored as the Casey Cavaliers Junior Male Athlete of the Year. Robinson averaged 18 points per game at the U20 Nationals to go along with shooting 61% from the field and 45% from behind the arc to go along with seven boards per game.
"Joel has a tremendous feel for the game and consistently makes the right play that leads to winning. He's a proven winner who has captured national titles and competed at the national team level. Joel is a real steal for West Texas A&M and I'm confident he will make an immediate impact for Coach Brown and the program." Darren Best, Victoria Basketball
