Abbi Holder Joins Lady Buff Basketball for 2025-26

CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M's Josh Prock has announced the addition of Eastern New Mexico transfer guard Abbi Holder to the Lady Buff roster for the 2025-26 campaign.

"We are very excited to add not only a fantastic player but an amazing young lady like Abbi Holder to our program. Abbi will come in and make an immediate impact for our team, she is a versatile guard who can play multiple guard spots and will come in an add great depth to our back court" said Prock "In her first season in the Lone Star Conference she shot over 35% from behind the arc and averaged six points per game."

Holder joins the Lady Buffs following a stellar freshman campaign at LSC rival Eastern New Mexico. The 5'8 guard appeared in 31 games with 17 starts for the Greyhounds last season, averaging 19.0 minutes per contest. She went 67-of-168 (39.9%) from the floor including 29-of-82 (35.4%) from behind the arc and 28-of-39 (71.8%) from the free throw line to average 6.2 points per contest to go along with 73 rebounds, 63 assists, 22 steals and a block.

The Lubbock product helped the Greyhound to a 21-10 overall record as they advanced to the NCAA South Central Regional Championships, ENMU claimed a 56-52 victory over fourth-seeded Colorado Mesa in the quarterfinal round before falling to host Texas Woman's in the regional semifinals, 71-48.

"Abbi is a tenacious competitor and understands what it takes to win at this level. She is a very humble young lady that will come in and be able to fit in very well with our current team" added Prock "As you think about the type of young lady you want to have in our Lady Buff program Abbi Holder fits our profile. She is an outstanding student as well; we are very thrilled she has chosen to continue her career here at West Texas A&M."

Holder registered a standout prep career at Frenship High School under head coach Trent Hillard where she was the all-time leading scorer in Tiger Basketball history, winning four straight District Championships. Abbi was an All-State and All-Region selection for the Tigers in 2024, participating in the TABC All-Star Game. Holder also excelled in the classroom as a member of the National Honor Society, graduating 6th in her class.

"Abbi Holder is the toughest competitor I've ever coached" said Frenship High School head coach Trent Hilliard "There is a reason success follows her everywhere she plays - she demands it from herself and her teammates. I am excited to follow her career at West Texas A&M."

Abbi is the daughter of Bryan and Holly Holder and she has one sister, Alli who played soccer at West Texas A&M. She is expected to major in Biology at West Texas A&M.
