CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M women's basketball head coach
Josh Prock has announced the addition of Hammon, Oklahoma product Henley West for the 2025-26 campaign.
Â
"We are all very excited to add a caliber player like Henley West. She has a chance to come in and impact our program from day one. Henley is a versatile post player who is skilled around the basket and has the ability to step out to the perimeter and knock down the open shot" said Prock "With her size she has the potential to force a lot of problems for our opponents on both ends of the court. She also does a tremendous job of running the floor, running to the basket, and turning and sealing her opponent."
Â
The 6'4 post has registered a standout prep career at Hammon High School, scoring over 2,000 career points and grabbing over 1,000 rebounds for the Warriors under head coach Clay Conley. West was named to the Class B State Tournament Team as a junior, earning MVP honors for the 5-County Conference.
Â
"Henley also does a lot of little things in a game to help you win" added Prock "She is a very impressive young lady off the floor as well. Henley is an ideal fit for our program and will come in and represent our program very well."Â Â
Â
West also excels in the classroom as a member of the National Honor Society while being named one of three valedictorians at HHS. She is the daughter of Jevon and Chrystal West and she has one sibling, Baylor. Henley is expected to major in Agribusiness or Agricultural Communications at West Texas A&M.
Â
"I couldn't be more excited for Henley to attend West Texas A&M! I was fortunate to get to come on the visit with her and it seemed to check a lot of boxes for her and her family" said HHS head coach Clay Conley "I joked with her all the time after that, that's where she would end up. I think she'll do great things for the Lady Buffs, and I'm excited to watch her under the instruction of Coach Prock and his staff who are unbelievable people that'll take Henleys game to the next level"
