CANYON, Texas – The 12
th ranked Buffaloes have lofty goals entering Saturday afternoon as they take part in the 2025 NCAA Division II South Central Region Cross Country Championships.
The race is hosted by CSU Pueblo and will take place at Walking Stick Golf Course in Pueblo, Colorado. The women's 6K race begins at 11:00 a.m. CT followed by the men's 10K race at 12:15 p.m. CT. Fans can follow

Walking Stick Golf Course serves as this year's regional venue. The 10,000-meter course consists of five 2K loops weaving through the fairways. Unlike last year, winter weather has relented, leaving the course clear of snow. Saturday's forecast calls for mostly sunny skies, with a high near 58°F and a low of 24°F, ideal conditions for championship racing.
The Buffs placed five runners inside of the Top-10 to claim their 13
th consecutive Lone Star Conference Championship back on October 25
th in Fort Worth.
Adrian Legarreta finished second overall with a time of 23:54.73 followed by
Matthys Bourse in 3rd (24:37.18),
Tommasso Toppi in 4th (24:58.64),
Branch Cox in 5th (25:09.74) and
Fintan Kavanagh in 6th (25:10.49).
Twenty-six women's and 24 men's teams are scheduled to compete in what may be the most competitive regional site in Division II as six women's teams and six men's teams from the two conferences rank among the Top 15 Division II teams in the latest
USTFCCCA coaches polls.
West Texas A&M, who swept both LSC titles at the conference championships October 25, have the highest ranked LSC teams in both the national and region polls. WT women are No. 4 in the region and national lists with Midwestern State (9th) and UT Tyler (10th) joining them in the region ranking. On the men's side, WT is 12th nationally and fifth in the region with DBU (9th) and UT Tyler (10th) holding places in the region poll.
The top three team finishers from the eight regional sites earn automatic qualification and 10 at-large teams are selected by the Division II Cross Country Committee. Following determination of qualifying teams, a minimum 24 additional individuals are selected. NCAA Championship selections are announced Monday, November 10 at
NCAA.com.
The Division II Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships are Saturday, November 22, at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
