CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M secured a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Women's National Preview at the PGA National Resort (Par 72 – 5,910 Yards) in Palm Beach, Florida, highlighted by
Kara Holm's tie for eighth with a three-round total of 227.
The Lady Buffs finished in sixth place with a final score of 937, improving their performance in the third round with a 308 after rounds of 313 and 316. Holm led the team with a total of 227, shooting 76 in the first two rounds and closing with a 75 in the final round, earning her a tie for eighth place.
Sarah Reed also showed improvement, finishing tied for 24th with a final score of 234, highlighted by a final round of 75.
Charlee Thacker contributed to the team's efforts, finishing tied for 41st with a total score of 240, improving her score each round and posting a 76 in the final round.
Mia Hammerschmid completed the tournament with a 243, while
Monica De Valle Pena withdrew in the final round after starting with scores of 78 and 80.
Dallas Baptist claimed the team crown with a score of 904 (+40) for an eight-stroke win over Lynn (+48, 912). Florida Southern's Clare Gimpel shot rounds of 75, 77 and 71 to shoot +7 (223) for a one-stroke victory over DBU's Ella Cheek and UT Tyler's Karina Duran.
The Lady Buffs close out their fall schedule on October 13-14 as they travel to Pueblo, Colorado to take part in the NCAA Regional Preview at Pueblo Country Club.
