Mia Hammerschmid shot an even-par 71 on Sunday to sit tied for seventh following the opening round of the Emerald Coast Classic at Baytowne Golf Club (Par 71 – 6,125 Yards) in Destin, Florida.
The freshman from Düsseldorf, Germany had five birdies in the opening round with three of the feathers coming on the front-nine. Her 4.50 scoring average on the four-different par-five holes ties for first among the 93 tournament competitors.
The Lady Buffs shot a 302 (+18) to sit eighth on the team leaderboard in a field that features 11 different team featured in the Clippd Division II rankings. UT Tyler leads the way with a +287 (+3) to hold a four-stroke lead over Flager (+7, 291) entering Monday's second round.
WT will be paired with Arkansas-Fort Smith and Columbus State in the second round with tee times beginning at 9:00 a.m. CT.
