LAST TIME OUT
WT earned its first victory of the 2024 season on Thursday night, defeating Eastern New Mexico 3-1 in Portales. The Buffs got on the board 10 minutes in when Daniel Burton played a ball over the Greyhounds' back line for Gabriel Nevarez. After Nevarez collected, the midfielder found Zakaria Daaou who beat the keeper for an open-net goal. In the 19th minute, WT replicated its success on a ball from Burton. Nevarez controlled possession off the deep pass before passing across the face of goal for an open Matteo Landais. Before the half ended, Alan Martinez cleaned up a bouncing ball after the ENMU goalkeeper couldn't handle the clearance. The Greyhounds broke up the shutout in the 79th minute, but the Buffs walked away with a road victory.
