CANYON, Texas - West Texas A&M Athletics has finished third in the Division II LEARFIELD Director's Cup standings announced on Tuesday afternoon by the association's offices in Cleveland, Ohio.
It marks the sixth straight and eighth overall time that West Texas A&M has finished inside of the Top-10 including the fifth straight inside of the Top-5. WT finished the season with 900.25 points to finish third behind Indianapolis (901.25) and 16-time winner Grand Valley State (983.00). It also marks the second most points that West Texas A&M has ever scored in a single campaign, narrowly missing last year's total of 904.75.

The Buffs and Lady Buffs accumulated 418.75 points during the spring with six sports qualifying for the NCAA Postseason. Baseball (50) and Softball (50) advanced to the South Central Regional Finals women's golf (73) qualified for medal match play while the Buffs (82.5) advanced to the National Semifinals. Outdoor track and field combined for 163.5 points as the Buffs finished second with a sixth place showing by the Lady Buffs.
WT claimed 238.00 points during the winter scoring cycle as Buffalo Basketball picked up 83 points, advancing to the Final Four while WT Track & Field claimed 155 total points, the Lady Buffs finished fifth overall to pick up 75 points with a fourth-place finish by the Buffs to claim 80 points.
Lady Buff Volleyball picked up 90 points as they advanced to the NCAA Division II National Title Match while cross country combined for 153.50 points as the Buffs finished fourth while the Lady Buffs finished sixth. WT concluded the fall scoring cycle with 243.50 points.
Overall, 15 sports are counted in the final DII standings, four of which must be women's volleyball and basketball and men's basketball and baseball. The next highest (11 max.) sports scored for each institution, regardless of gender, are used in the standings.
The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
