NEW ORLEANS,
LA– West Texas A&M Buffs claim 13 All-Region honorees for the 2024 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field season were announced on Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West – match those used during the cross country season.
BUFFS
Thirteen Buffs earned All-Region Honors with one freshman, three sophomores, five juniors, two seniors and one graduate student making the mark for the Buffs.
Gerard Bryant is the sole graduate student leading the Buffs. Bryant makes up one of two heptathletes that earned All-Region with transfer student
Romet Vahter also claiming the honor. Heptathletes compete in a multitude of events and both Buffs earned spots in the 14-man Heptathlon NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships.
Earning back-to-back honors for All-Region are
Hamdi Ali,
Isaac Botsio,
Luke Holcombe and
Joseph Oreva. Seven newcomers for the Buffs earned their first All-Region honors in the maroon and white for Indoor Track and Field.
William Amponsah adds indoor track honors to his already extensive cross country honors where he also earned All-Region honors.
Competing in the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships this weekend will be Ali, Amponsah, Botsio, Bryant, Holcombe, Mcabelo, Mohammed, Oreva, Vahter and Whyte.
