Lady Buffs Distance Breaks WT Record

CANYON, TX – The West Texas A&M No. 11 Lady Buffs break the distance medley school record at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, Massachusetts and add two more personal best marks at the Jarvis Scott Open in Lubbock, Texas on Saturday, February 10. 
 
Across the two day meets, the Lady Buffs had eight total personal bests and broke three West Texas A&M school records. 

JARVIS SCOTT OPEN
In the distance races, Lexi Maul and Olivia McLain ran personal bests in the one mile. Maul improved to 5 minutes, 16.7 seconds placing 13th with teammates McLain placing 14th in 5 minutes, 17.7 seconds. Miriam Zanovello finished 8th in the triple jump by crossing over 12 meters at 12.05m. 
 
DAVID HEMERY VALENTINE INVITATIONAL 
The Lady Buffs ran the distance medley on Saturday which consisted of a relay team to run the 1200-meter, 400-meter, 800-meter and the one mile. Eleonora Curtabbi, Raquel Chavez, Corrssia Perry and Florance Uwajeneza ran for the No. 11 Lady Buffs in the relay and recorded the fastest WT time in 11 minutes 24.45 seconds. The Lady Buffs broke the previous record set in 2021 at 11:56.29 and became only the second womens distance medley relay team to break 12 minutes for West Texas A&M.

WT will send select student-athletes to the Steve Miller Meet in Manhatten, Kansas to better their times and distances before competing in the Lone Star Conference indoor Championships held on February 23-24.
