ABILENE, Texas – West Texas A&M Buffs win 40 points ahead of their second place competitors, TAMU-Commerce, at the Big Country Festival in Abilene, Texas.
WT placed first with 15 points and finished with 9 out of 10 in the top-10. The WT Buffs had the first eight finishes in a row out of 87 runners.
Junior transfer,
William Amponsah from Agona Swedru, Accra, Ghana, claimed the top spot with a 5k time of 14:29.2. Amponsah finished a full 33+ seconds ahead of second-place teammate
Aziz Mohammed. He paced out at 2:54/k, which translates roughly to under 4 minutes and 40 seconds per mile.
