Adrian Legarreta has been named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Men's Cross Country Division II Scholar Athlete of the Year announced on Thursday afternoon.
The 2025 season saw the Buffs continue to dominate the Lone Star Conference cross country scene as they swept the league crowns for the fourth straight year under
Zach Daniel's guidance. The Buffs have now won 13 straight LSC Championships.
The Buffs finished fifth at the South Central Regional Championships in Pueblo with Legarreta claiming a fifth-place individual finish. The Friona product became the highest-finishing men's runner in program history from the Texas Panhandle, crossing the finish line third at the NCAA Championships. Legarreta holds a 3.34 GPA in Physical Education.
