CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M track and field had ten athletes compete at the Texas Tech Corky/Crofoot Shootout meet on April 29.
The Lady Buffs sent two sprinters
Tiana Melton and
Gabriella Holmstrom. The Buffs had sprinters
Chance Martelli,
Jamill Phillips,
Malick Diop,
Brien Pittman,
RJ Williams and
Jalen Purcell. Distance Runner,
Louis Moreau, competed in the lone distance event of the 1500-meter.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES
Corky/Crofoot Shootout
Senior,
Louis Moreaul, started out the day with the 1500-meter where he placed third out of 22 runners with a time of 3:54.63. The maroon and white had a good run in the 400-meter with four Buffs competing.
Brien Pittman led the team with a time of 48.04 and placed 15
th, the highest for the Buffs.
RJ Williams now holds a career best in the 200-meter with a time of 22.08.
Lady Buffs
Gabriella Holmstrom and
Tiana Melton competed in their respective events of the 100, 200-meter and 400-meter. Holmstrom was the only Lady Buff to run in two events (100m/200m).
UP NEXT
The No. 1 in the nation, Lady Buffs, and No. 3 in the nation, Buffs, will be competing in the Lone Star Conference Championship from May 4-6.
The Lone Star Conference Championship will be held in Lubbock, Texas.
