CANYON, Texas- Six student-athletes represented the maroon and white at the Texas Relays on Thursday, March 30.
Eleonora Curtabbi broke her own school record in the 3000 meter steeplechase and took first place with a time of 10:02.60. She led the group of runners the whole race and won by a large margin of 17+ seconds. Curtabbi was the only non-Division I athlete in the race and took first over athletes from Kansas State, Texas, LSU and Nebraska to name a few.
Florance Uwajeneza broke her own school record in the 5000 meter and took first place with a time of 16:07.13. She stayed in the middle of the pack before hitting six laps left to go and made her move into the top five. By lap five she was in the top three runners behind a Texas Longhorn and an unattached runner. She made her move with three laps left to go and held steady in first place. Uwajeneza was only one of two Division ll student-athletes in the race.
Running the 400 meter hurdles were Lady Buff, Elliot Harrison, and Buff Kenyon Mosley. Mosley led his heat with a time of 54.15. Noah Bundrock ran for seventh place in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:09.06 and placed tenth on the WT All-Time record book.
Butare Rugenerwa ran his first event of the weekend in the 800 meter finishing 14th overall and etching his name into the third spot in the WT All-Time record books. Rugenerwa now owns the top six records in the 800m in school history.

UP NEXT
The Buffs and Lady Buffs will have an early start at 9:30 AM tomorrow, Friday, March 31. Multiple student-athletes will be competing in sprinting events and the start of the field events will take place with Taylor Nelloms and Hamdi Ali competing in the high jump.
