CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M's
Eleonora Curtabbi shattered the school record in the women's Mile as the Lady Buffs and Buffs completed opening day action at the GVSU Big Meet in Allendale, Michigan and the TTU Jarvis Scott Open in Lubbock.
The senior from Turin, Italy registered the best time so far this season in Division II with a 4:40.56 which is the eighth best time in DII women's indoor history.
Florance Uwajeneza won her heat in the 5,000m as the senior from St. Paul, Minnesota registered a time of 16:22.09 for the second fastest time in WT history and the third best mark in DII this season.
On the men's side in Allendale, Harry Lourador provisionally qualified for the NCAA DII Indoor Championships with a 14:07.05 for the seventh fastest time in DII this season.
In Lubbock, reigning LSC Track Athlete of the Week
Corrssia Perry finished seventh in the women's 400m finals with a time of 55.30 for the sixth fastest time in Lady Buff history.
Lexi Maul picked up a third place finish in the 5,000m with a time of 17:59.73 followed by
Kallie Bullard in eighth (19:20.12).
Miriam Zanovello finished fourth in the women's Long Jump with a mark of 5.72m (18-9.25) on her opening attempt followed by
Daniela Pesic in sixth (5.64m).
On the men's side,
Desmond Aryee picked up a fifth place finish in the 60m dash with a time of 6.77 while
Adrian Legarreta finished fourth in the 5,000m run (15:26.28).
Ray Dixon continued to impress in the men's Weight Throw with a mark of 18.61m (61-0.75) to finish fourth overall.
