SAN ANGELO, TX- The West Texas A&M Cross Country #6 Buffs finished in first place with 17 team points at the ASU Blue & Gold Classic tonight in San Angelo, TX. Five Buffs competed for the maroon and white with freshman
Adrian Solis claiming the individual title in the men's 8k division.
WT beat out Lone Star Conference rival Angelo State by 31 points as ASU finished in second (48 points), followed by Western Texas College (58 points) and Sul Ross State (99 points).
The Buffs claimed the top four spots with Solis in first (26:59.61) followed by
Michael Riess in second (27:26.05),
Colton Aycock in third (27:37.14) and
Grant Sims in fourth (27:43.26).
Noah Watt stayed within the top-10 with a seventh-place finish (28:14.07) for WT.
The Lady Buffs freshman
Jessica Garcia finished strong in sixth place (26:58.31) for her debut. Garcia was the sole representative for the Lady Buffs in the women's 6k division and the only runner to not have a teammate beside her out of the four teams that competed. There was no team score recorded for the Lady Buffs as Garcia was running as an individual representing WT.
COMING UP
The #6 Buffs and #12 Lady Buffs are preparing for the LSC Championships held on Saturday, Oct. 21 in Portales, New Mexico. The race will be hosted by LSC competitor, Eastern New Mexico University.
