Track & Field Finishes Friday with an Impressive Showing in Lubbock

CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M Track & Field held their own against some of the nation's top programs on Saturday during the Texas Tech Open & Multis inside of the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas.
 
Taylor Nelloms picked up a third-place finish in the women's Long Jump with a mark of 5.90m (19-4.25) on her first attempt while Daniela Pesic finished 11th with a 5.64m (18-6).
 
Leah Belfield ran a 7.44 in the 60m qualifying round for the fourth fastest time in Lady Buff indoor history and the top time so far this season in Division II, she followed that up with a 7.46 in the advancement round to narrowly miss the finals.
 
Isaac Botsio claimed the sixth fastest time in WT indoor history during the men's 60m Dash qualifying round with a 6.64. Joseph Manu put on a show in the men's 60m Dash as the Accra, Ghana native was the only non-Division 1 athlete in the finals, tying the ninth fastest time in school history with a 6.69 to finish fourth overall.
 
Gerard Bryant registered a personal best in the Shot Put (13.52m) and the 1,000m (2:51.35) on his way to a 14th place finish in the Heptathlon with a total of 5,043 points.
 
Saturday's action in Lubbock begins at 10:00 a.m. with field events followed by running events at 11:30 a.m. The Colorado Running Company Mountain Lion Open begins at 12:30 p.m. CT.
