No. 24 Buffs Geared for 2022 NCAA DII National Championships in Seattle

SEATTLE, Wash. – The No. 24 West Texas A&M Buffs are set to compete NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships for the ninth consecutive year in the season finale on Friday, Dec. 2. The 10-kilometer national race is scheduled for noon CT/10 a.m. PT at Chambers Bay in Seattle, Wash.

BUFF ENTRIES
Seven Buffs will compete on Friday with Harry Louradour, Innocent Murwanashyaka, Noah Bundrock and Gustavo Posada returning to the startling line from last season's roster while Calvin Allen and Louis Moreau will compete at the national race for the first time in the Maroon & White. Butare Rugenerwa will compete at nationals for the first time since 2019. 
 
LAST TIME OUT
WT finished fifth as a team with 170 points at the NCAA South Central Regionals led by Harry Louradour. The sophomore from Le Vigen, France covered the 10-kilometer course in 31 minutes, 15.8 seconds to finish 11thoverall to earn All-Region honors. Louis Moreau was the second Buff to cross the finish line in Denver finishing 30th followed by Innocent Murwanashyaka (35th), Butare Rugenerwa (46th), Noah Bundrock (48th), Calvin Allen (54th) and Gustavo Posada (71st). 
 
A LOOK AT THE COMPETITION
Thirty-four teams were selected to participate in each championship. The top three, seven-person teams from each of the eight regions automatically qualified, for a total of 24 teams. Ten additional teams were selected at-large. A minimum of 24 additional individuals were selected to participate in each championship through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process.
 
Five teams qualified from the loaded South Central Region including No. 6 Colorado Christian, No. 1 Colorado School of Mines, No. 11 UCCS, No. 24 WT and No. 8 Western Colorado while Colorado Mesa's Tony Torres and New Mexico Highland's Andrew Amor received the individual bids.  
 
2021 NATIONAL REVIEW
Last season, Innocent Murwanashyaka became the fifth Buff in program history to earn All-American honors after leading WT to a 22nd-place team finish with 528 points. The St. Paul, Minn. product claimed his first All-America accolades after finishing 40th overall completing the 10,000-meter course 31 minutes, 29.0 seconds followed by Harry Louradour (160th), Gustavo Posada (180th) and Noah Bundrock (224th).
 
UP NEXT
WT will turn its attention towards the indoor track & field season opening next weekend in Pittsburg, Kan., competing in the Boo Rogers Combined Events and Crimson & Gold Classic hosted by Pittsburg State on Dec. 9-10 at the Robert W. Plaster Center.
