CANYON, Texas – No. 6 West Texas A&M men's soccer (2-0-0, 0-0-0 LSC) will set out to Bethany, Oklahoma to take on the Crimson Storm of Southern Nazarene on Thursday, Sept. 16. The Buffs first road match kicks off at 6 p.m. at the Wes Harmon Field.

SERIES HISTORY
The match between the Buffs and Crimson Storm marks the sixth overall meeting between the two schools with WT leading the all-time series 5-1-0. The Buffs won the final matchup on Sept. 10, 2018 with a 6-0 shutout led by former Buff Julio Vargas with his second career hat-trick.
SCOUTING SOUTHERN NAZARENE
Southern Nazarene is heads into Thursday's match on a three-game win streak with a 3-1-0 overall record. The Crimson Storm average 2.50 goals per match led by Nathaniel Mederos with eight total points on three goals and two assists. Two keepers have seen time between the post with Ramiro Jimenez and Bence Mocsari combining for 1.72 goals against average and .667 save-percentage. Jimenez has recorded four starts going 2-1-0.
LAST TIME OUT
WT picked up its first victory over a nationally-ranked opponent after defeating Northeastern State, 5-1, on Saturday. Four Buffs found the back of the net led
Giancarlo Saldana who recorded his fourth career brace.
Tom Miles earned his first start and victory as WT's keeper with four saves.
A LOOK AT THE HERD
On offense, the Buffs average four goals a match on 19.5 shots including a .487 shot-on-goal percentage. Saldana has scored a team-high three goals followed by

Ben Siri leads the offense with three assists. WT's defense has limited opponents to 7.5 shots per game with WT's goalkeepers allowing just three goals with four saves for a .571 save-percentage.
MOVING ON UP
WT jumped five spots to in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division II Men's Soccer Top-25 rankings, landing in sixth. The Buffs and Midwestern State are the only programs from the Lone Star Conference in the national standings.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Giancarlo Saldana was named the LSC Offensive Player of the Week for the third time in his career after recording his sixth career game-winner for WT. The junior now has 13 career goals including four braces.
BUTCH LAUFFER
Butch Lauffer enters his 31st season as head men's soccer coach at West Texas A&M University. As the longest tenured head coach in WT history, Lauffer has coached the men to 29 consecutive non-losing seasons and the women to 12-plus victories in 12 seasons. Lauffer has recorded a 352-157-39 (.678) record at the helm of the Buffs with a 541-224-56 (.693) overall record at WT.
