LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 2 West Texas A&M had three student-athletes compete at the Texas Tech Open on Saturday in Lubbock.
Valda Kabia finished second in the 400-meters in her first time running the event outdoors since the 2018 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Kingsville. She ran 55.83, which is the fastest time in the Lone Star Conference before altitude conversion.
Nele Heinrich also competed in the quarter mile finishing fourth with a seasonal best time of 56.33.
Madison Thetford competed in two events on Saturday beginning with a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.69. It marks the fourth time she has run under 14.70 in the high hurdles this season.
The Amarillo native returned to the track to run 1:03.05 in the 400-meter hurdles.
