HOW DID WE GET HERE?
Giancarlo Saldana and Payne McKiver scored in the second half as the Buffs defeated UT Tyler in the first of two semifinals on Saturday. After a sub par opening 45 minutes for the home side, WT was able to find more space in the Patriot defense to punch their tickets to the final .

Midwestern State didn't look like the No. 3 seed on Saturday night in their 2-0 win over No. 18 St. Mary's.

LSC Freshman of the Year Mere Escobar scored the opener in the 8th minute on a pass from LSC Player of the Year Trevor Amann. It was 2-0 before the Rattlers could catch their breath as Carlos Flores scored his fourth of the season two minutes later.

A LOOK AT MIDWESTERN STATE
The Mustangs enter the final at 7-2-1 overall and have won four straight since a 1-1 draw against Texas A&M International. In the LSC Preseason Poll, MSU was picked to win the conference after picking up 13 of 20 first-place votes.

Amann leads a Mustang attack that is scoring three goals per game. The senior has found the back of the net nine times while providing three assists. Escobar ranks second on the team with five goals with Flores and Julian Barajas chipping in four a piece.

The defense is led by Rory O'Keefe and Carlos Vargas, both of whom give opposing teams trouble on set pieces. Taylor Lampe has started the last four games in goal for the Mustangs including three shutouts. He has only been forced to make a total of 10 saves this season.

THE SERIES
The Buffs are 20-31-3 all-time against the Mustangs dating back to Sept. 17, 1991. Just six days ago, the two teams faced off with MSU winning 2-1 in overtime.

WE HAVE BEEN HERE BEFORE
November 4, 2018.

That was the site of their last meeting in a conference final as members of the Heartland Conference with the Buffs winning 5-4 on penalty kicks after neither team found the back of the net in regulation or overtime.

Reece Schattle scored the winning PK to give the Buffs but it was Alexander Vencel's heroics in goal the helped the Buffs win the tournament and give them momentum for a run to the NCAA Division II Quarterfinals.

WHAT IS AT STAKE?
A win on Monday evening would give Butch Lauffer and the Buffs the first LSC Tournament title since 2000 when they defeated MSU 2-1.

The No. 1 song in the United States of America on Nov. 4, 2000 was 'Come on Over Baby' by Christina Aguilera. The first crew also arrived at the International Space Station in November while Pat Riley became just the second coach in NBA history to accumulate 1,000 regular season victories.
