CANYON, Texas – Junior Giancarlo Saldana recorded his third goal in two games as he led the Buffaloes of West Texas A&M to a 1-0 shutout against the Patriots of Dallas Baptist at The Pitch on Saturday afternoon. The Buffs move their win streak to 13 against the Patriots as they lead the all-time series 13-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Patriots attacked first with a shot off a free kick by Christian Naizer but was denied by senior goalkeeper Alexander Vencel. WT immediately responded as Denis Herrera put pressure on the defense in the sixth minute but his shot went over the crossbar. The Buffs best look at a chance to take the lead came from two late shots by Giancarlo Saldana but both were saved by Kyle Renton to remain scoreless at the half.
Saldana scored the golden-goal in the 83rd minute as the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week he showed some fancy footwork to beat the defense before launching his shot from the top of the box for his second game-winner.
WT finished the match with a team season-high 19 shots as they outshot DBU 19-6 with five of them on target. Saldana had season-high six shots with four on frame while Beau Johnson totaled three.
Alexander Vencel (3-1) finished the match with two saves, both coming from the first half.
