CANYON, Texas – The #12 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M will continue their homestand on Sunday and Monday as they host the Cameron Aggies in Lone Star Conference action at Wilder Park due to inclement weather forcing a location change for the series.

CAMERON
The Aggies will open up their 2021 campaign this weekend in Canyon as their first two series of the year against Texas A&M-Kingsville and St. Edward's were postponed due to COVID-19 and inclement weather. Cameron finished the shortened 2020 season with an overall record of 6-16 including an 0-11 mark away from McCord Field in Lawton.

Kyle Williams enters his second season at the helm of the Cameron Baseball Program following one season as the program's top assistant. Williams joined CU after spending the six years as the assistant baseball coach and recruiting coordinator at Crowder College. Williams helped guide Crowder to a Region XVI Title in 2014 and 2017 and a trip to the NJCAA World Series in 2017.

Beau Williams is the leading offensive returner for the Aggies as the sophomore infielder from Frisco hit .269 last season, starting all 22 games with four doubles, one triple and four homeruns to drive in 11 RBI for a slugging percentage of .448. Kalen Haynes leads the way on the mound as the junior lefty went 1-3 last season with a 4.79 ERA, allowing 17 runs (11 earned) on 15 hits with 18 walks and 18 strikeouts in his 20.2 innings of work for an opposing batting average of .208.

WT HEAD COACH MATT VANDERBURG
Matt Vanderburg has built West Texas A&M Baseball into a regional and national contender as the Norman, Oklahoma native enters his 13th season at the helm of the Buffs. He holds an overall record of 380-224 (.629) during his time in Canyon while registering a career record of 479-291 (.621) in his 16 seasons in collegiate baseball.

THE COACHING STAFF

Hall has had four different pitchers drafted in the MLB Draft during his time in Canyon with multiple other professional players learning under one of the top pitching minds in collegiate baseball. Assistant Coach Shawn Neale returns for his fifth season in Canyon as the Buffs finished the 2020 season hitting .298 as a team with 76 extra-base hits and an on-base percentage of .403.
