CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Buffaloes kept their season alive on Sunday afternoon, picking up a 5-3 victory over the #23 St. Mary's Rattlers at Dickson Stadium in San Antonio, Texas.

The Buffs got on the board in the top of the first inning as they took advantage of a Rattler defensive miscue to score
Jonluke Hobdy at 1-0. St. Mary's responded in the bottom of the frame as Blake Allen scored from third on a wild pitch followed by a Ryan Alaniz RBI groundout to plate Ashton Beaird at 2-1.

WT retook the lead in the top of the second frame as
Brock Bunker scored on a double steal followed by a
Jake Alwine RBI single thru the right side to score
Anthony Picciano at 3-2. The Rattlers tied the game in the bottom of the sixth on a Matt Mendez RBI fielder's choice groundout to score Rob Gonzalez at 3-3.

The Buffs took the lead for good in the top of the eighth on a
Timothy Haynes sacrifice squeeze to score Alwine followed by a
Luis Reyes sac fly to right with Haynes tagging up for the 5-3 advantage.

Bryan Raitz claimed the win (5-4) on the mound, allowing no runs on just three hits with one walk and a strikeout in the final 3.2 innings of the game.

The Buffs and Rattlers will play in a winner-take-all game three on Monday afternoon with first pitch set for 1:00 p.m.
