Lady Buffs Use a Big Third Quarter to Win the LSC Opener, 77-64

CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M trailed by four points heading into the locker room for halftime but a big third quarter that saw the Lady Buffs outscore Arkansas-Fort Smith 22-5 lifted WT to a victory in the Lone Star Conference opener on Friday afternoon at the Stubblefield Center in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
 
Zamorye Roberts led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs as the Portales product went 5-of-11 from the field including 3-of-7 from behind the arc for a team-high 15 points to go along with three rebounds, and a steal. Alivia Lewis registered her fourth double-double in Maroon & White as the senior finished the game with 10 points and 10 rebounds to go along with two assists and five blocks.
 
The Lady Buffs finished the afternoon going 28-of-68 (41.2%) from the floor including 9-of-28 (32.1%) from behind the arc and 12-of-19 (63.2%) from the charity stripe with 51 rebounds (17 offensive, 34 defensive), nine assists, 21 turnovers, five blocks and eight steals.
 
Ashanti Eden led the way for the Lady Lions as the Louisiana native went 3-of-17 from the floor including 12-of-17 from the charity stripe for a game-high 18 points to go along with one rebound, one assist and one steal. UAFS finished the afternoon going 18-of-67 (26.9%) from the floor including 4-of-18 (22.2%) from deep and 24-of-32 (75%) from the free throw line with 46 rebounds, six assists, 18 turnovers, no blocks and 13 steals.
