CANYON, Texas – The No. 17 Buffaloes of West Texas A&M will return to action for the Lone Star Conference Championship Semifinals with a matchup against No. 3 seed Lubbock Christian.  WT will face the Mustangs tonight at 5 p.m. in Wichita Falls at Stang Park. Â

SERIES HISTORY
Friday's meeting marks the 15
th match between the two programs with WT leading the all-time series since its start in 2013.  WT and Lubbock Christian are neck-and-neck this season with the Chaps outscoring the Buffs, 5-3.  In their last match, the Chaps defeated the Buffs 3-0 while WT leads the series 8-6. Â

A LOOK AT THE BRACKET
Midwestern State earned the No. 1 seed in the LSC conference tournament after finishing the regular conference season 7-1.  WT followed the Mustangs as the No. 2 seed with Lubbock Christian, St. Mary's, UT Tyler, and UT Permian Basin earning the final four spots.Â

SCOUTING LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN
The No. 3 Chaps are coming off a dominating performance in the opening round of the LSC tournament after defeating UT Permian Basin 6-0.  ÂÂLCU ended the regular season 9-6-1 with a 5-2-1 run in conference play under fifth-year head coach Paul Gilbert. Â

LCU landed eight selections to the All-Conference team while two earned specialty awards.  Ivan Muanze-Bengono was named the Defenisve Player of the Year while Tomas Casas earned Freshman of the Year honors.Â

Eight players have scored multiple goals for the Chaps led by Tariq Bakkali with a team-high six while Luciano Rodriguez and Kevin Mejias have each registered five.  Braxton Thorne, a Second Team All-Conference selection, has received all nine victories in goal for the Chaps allowing 1.33 goals per match with a .667 save-percentage.Â

ALL-LSC
Seven players from the West Texas A&M men's soccer team received All-Conference honors on Thursday night. Â
Denis Herrera,
Bryan Martinez and
Callum Doyle earned First Team All-Conference accolades followed by
Stefan Andjelic with Second Team honors. Â
Rotem Weiss,
Tanner Clements, and
Tom Miles received third team honors while Weiss and Miles were named to the All-Freshmen Team.

West Texas A&M men's soccer jumped two spots to fourth in the NCAA Division II Super-4 Region rankings.  The field for the 2021 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship will be announced on Monday, Nov. 15 with the online selection show streamed on NCAA.com set for 5:30 p.m. CT.Â

LAST TIME OUT
In their last outing, WT handed the Midwestern State Mustangs their first conference loss as the Buffs won 3-2 on Senior Day. The Buffs are the only team to defeat the Mustangs this season as WT finished the regular season 13-3-0 and 6-2-0 in conference play.  Chris Palomin,

BUTCH LAUFFER
Butch Lauffer is in his 31st season as head men's soccer coach at West Texas A&M University.  The Buffs match against UT Permian Basin marked Lauffer's 550
th-career victory at WT.  As the longest tenured head coach in WT history, Lauffer has coached the men to 29 consecutive non-losing seasons and the women to 12-plus victories in 12 seasons. Lauffer has recorded a 363-160-39 (.678) record at the helm of the Buffs with a 552-227-56 (.693) overall record at WT.

The Buffs have outscored opponents 39-27, averaging 2.60 goals per match on 16.4 shots which ranks first in the conference including a .443 shot-on-goal percentage. Â
Giancarlo Saldana has scored a team-high nine goals followed by

Rotem Weiss paces the offense with six assists.  WT's defense has limited opponents to 9.9 shots per match with goalkeeper

West Texas A&M men's soccer moved to 17
th in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division II Top-25 Poll. Young Harris ranked first in the national standings at 15-0-1 followed by Palm Beach Atlantic, Davis & Elkins, Franklin Pierce, and Charleston.  Â
