SAN ANGELO, Texas – West Texas A&M put the first eight runners across the finish line en route to winning the Blue & Gold Classic with a perfect score on Wednesday afternoon.
The Buffs finished with 15 points to finish ahead of host Angelo State, 50 points, in their final tune-up race before next week's Lone Star Conference Championships.
Innocent Murwanashyaka won for the second time in his career after covering the 8-kilomter course in 24;35.9, close to 30 seconds faster than he ran on the same course at last year's LSC Championships.
Gustavo Posada recorded the best finish of his young career in second running 25:03.2 followed by
Ezekiel Kipchirchir in third (25:06.9) and
Harry Louradour in fourth (25:09.5).
Briggs Wittlake was fifth (25:38.4) for his fourth career Top 5 finish while
Jay Hall was sixth (25:57.0),
Calvin Allen was seventh (26:31.2) and
Hunter Bellis was eighth (26:35.4).
Noah Bundrock and
Daniel Camarillo also competed for the Buffs finishing 18
th and 19
th respectively.
Daphne Pate was the only Lady Buff to compete as she recorded the third Top 10 finish of her career, finishing third in a time of 23:18.5. That was her second-fastest time over 6-kilometers.
