Carter Drives in Six as the Buffs Complete the Sweep of the #22 Javelinas

CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M's Darius Carter and Keone Givens combined for 10 RBI on Sunday afternoon as the Buffs rolled past the #22 Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas to sweep the Lone Star Conference weekend series at Wilder Park in Canyon.
 
The Buffs hit the road next weekend for a four-game Lone Star Conference series against the unbeaten and top ranked Angelo State Rams starting on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. at Foster Field in San Angelo.

RECAP:
The Javelinas got on the board early as Giancarlo Servin doubles to the gap in left center with one out in the first to drive in Seth Spinn for the 1-0 lead. Kingsville added to their lead in the top of the third as a fly ball to left found its way to the wall for a two-run inside the park homerun for Steven Bonuz with two outs to make it 3-0.
 
Justin Martinez doubled to right center to leadoff the home half of the third followed by an Izaiah Madrid RBI single, Keone Givens tied the game with one swing as the senior crushed a two-run shot to left center at 3-3. 
 
Givens drove in two more in the bottom of the fourth with a double to the gap in left center with one out, WT wasn't done yet as Darius Carter doubled down the left field like with the bases loaded and two outs followed by a Marcel Lacasse RBI single to center at 10-3.
 
WT added to their lead in the fifth with a Cade Engle RBI walk with the bases loaded followed two batters later by a Kyle Moos sac fly to right field, Carter continued his big day at the plate as the senior singled to right to drive in a pair and extend the lead to 14-3.
 
Todd Danzeisen picked up the win (3-0) on the mound for the Buffs as the senior left-hander allowed three earned runs on six hits with two walks and eight strikeouts in his six innings of work, Justin Zamora made his first appearance of the season in a scoreless seventh inning to close out the win.
