Hightower Reaches 1,000 as the #14 Lady Buffs Top Texas Woman’s, 80-63

CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M junior guard Lexy Hightower reached the 1,000 career point plateau on Saturday afternoon as the #14 Lady Buffs finished the game strong in an 80-63 Lone Star Conference victory over the Texas Woman's Pioneers at the First United Bank Center in Canyon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- West Texas A&M was led offensively by Tyesha Taylor who went a perfect 11-of-11 from the floor for 23 points followed by Deleyah Harris with 20, Megan Gamble dished out 13 assists on the afternoon to rank tied for seventh in a single-game in program history.
- Hightower became the 22nd Lady Buff to reach the 1,000 Career Point plateau with 7:24 on the clock in the opening quarter as the junior connected on a long ball from the top of the key, she reached the feat in her 80th game in Maroon & White during her 64th career start for the Lady Buffs.
- Macy Wilkerson led the way for the Pioneers with 16 points followed by Ma'K'La Woods with 14 and Carissa Moody with 13, Moody grabbed a game-high nine rebounds while London Archer registered a pair of blocks in the loss.
 
FIRST HALF
- The Lady Buffs went 14-of-31 (45.2%) from the floor in the first half including 4-of-12 (33.3%) from deep and 2-of-8 (25%) from the free throw line with 11 rebounds (four offensive, seven defensive), 10 assists, five turnovers, one block and four steals.
- TWU finished the first half going 11-of-19 (57.9%) from the field including 3-of-7 (42.9%) from behind the arc and 10-of-12 (83.3%) from the charity stripe with 16 total rebounds (one offensive, 15 defensive), seven assists, nine turnovers, two blocks and a pair of steals.

SECOND HALF
- WT finished the game going 30-of-56 (53.6%) from the floor including 9-of-20 (45%) from deep and 11-of-23 (47.8%) from the free throw line with 26 rebounds (eight offensive, 18 defensive), 24 assists, 11 turnovers, eight steals and three blocks in the win.
