CANYON, Texas – The #23 Buffs wrap-up their Heartland Conference weekend homstand on Saturday afternoon as they host the rival Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico starting at 1 p.m. at The Pitch in Canyon.

EASTERN NEW MEXICO
The Greyhounds enter the weekend with an overall record of 5-5-1 with a 3-3-1 mark in Heartland Conference action following a big 5-2 victory on UT Permian Basin on Thursday night in Portales.

ENMU is led offensively by Aderi Arthur-Dede with six goals and an assists for 13 points while shooting .171 on the season. The Hounds average 2.09 goals per game on 150 total shots with 62 of those falling on goal. Dalton Ross is 1-1-1 in goal for ENMU, allowing eight goals with 21 saves for a percentage of .724.

Eastern New Mexico is guided by first year head coach Jon Fridal who became the sixth head coach in program history back on February 2nd. He came to Portales from Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa.

THE SERIES
Saturday afternoon will mark the 30th all-time meeting on the pitch between the Buffs and Greyhounds dating back to the 2004 season. WT has claimed the last three meetings between the two teams.

Three first half goals sparked West Texas A&M to a 8-1 win over visiting Eastern New Mexico at The Pitch on Senior Day. Junior
Ivan Ulloa records a hat trick in the game. The win extended the Buffs' winning streak to five games heading into the Heartland Conference Tournament.

Alexander Vencel had one save, while ENMU goalkeeper Yuri Nascimiento had four saves.
Ulloa's hat trick marked the third of the season for WT as the Buffs had two hat tricks in a 13-2 win at UT Permian Basin on Sept. 30.

HEARTLAND CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL
MSU Texas was tabbed atop of the Heartland Conference Preseason Poll announced on August 21st. The Mustangs picked up 22 of the possible 24 first place votes for 285 points followed by St. Edward's (one first place, 254), West Texas A&M (one first place, 241), Texas A&M-International (203), St. Mary's (176), Rogers State (157), UT Permian Basin (140), Lubbock Christian (120), Newman (94), Dallas Baptist (90), Eastern New Mexico (68) and Oklahoma Christian (44).

WT HEAD COACH BUTCH LAUFFER
Butch Lauffer enters his 28th season as head men's soccer coach at West Texas A&M. Lauffer is now the longest tenured head coach in West Texas A&M history in a storied career dating back to 1991. Lauffer reached the 500-win plateau on September 30th of last season in Odessa, Texas with a dominating 13-2 win over UT Permian Basin.

During his tenure, Lauffer has coached the men to 26 consecutive non-losing seasons and the women to 12-plus victories in 12 seasons. Lauffer has recorded a 324-147-34 (.661) record at the helm of the Buffs with a 514-214-51 (.680) overall record at WT.

UNITED SOCCER COACHES TOP-25 POLL
The #23 Buffs make an appearance in the United Soccer Coaches Division II Top-25 Poll for the first time since the 2014 campaign when WT was ranked 25th to start the campaign in the then National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Top-25 Poll.

Entering the week, the Buffs ranked second in the nation in total assists (31) while ranking third in the nation in total goals (36) and total points (103.0), WT is fourth in scoring (3.6/game) while also ranking fifth in assists per game (3.1) and in points per game (10.3).
