CANYON, Texas – The #6 Lady Buffs return to Lone Star Conference play this weekend as they head to Lawton, Oklahoma for a three-game LSC series against the Aggies of Cameron starting on Friday afternoon with a doubleheader set for 1 p.m. followed by the series finale on Saturday at 3 p.m. at McMahon Field.

CAMERON
The Aggies enter the weekend with an overall record of 28-13 with a 16-4 mark in Lone Star Conference play to sit just a half game back of the Lady Buffs for second place in the LSC standings. Cameron is coming off a series sweep of Eastern New Mexico last weekend in Portales.

Dennis Furr is in his first season at the helm of the Aggies following 13 years of head coaching experience at the prep-level, with six appearances in the OSSAA Championship, and four state titles.

The Aggies are led offensively by Brenna Busby who is hitting .336 with nine doubles and seven homeruns to drive in 31 RBI. In the circle, CU is led by Bethany Hines who is 21-5 on the season with a 2.87 ERA, striking out 100 batters in 165.2 innings of work with 19 complete games.

Cameron is hitting .289 as a team with 58 doubles, 13 triples and 38 homeruns to drive in 192 RBI for a team slugging percentage of .479 with 147 walks for an on-base clip of .381 while committing 46 errors for a fielding percentage of .962. In the circle, the Aggies have registered a team ERA of 3.10 with 28 complete games, two shutouts and 122 strikeouts for an opposing batting average of .300.

THE SERIES vs. CAMERON
The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series against the Aggies, 26-8 with WT taking three of the four meetings between the two teams in 2016. WT is 6-1 all-time in Lawton with the Lady Buffs claiming the last three meetings at McMahon Field.

NFCA DIVISION II TOP-25 POLL (APR. 12)
Angelo State retook the top spot in this week's NFCA DII Top-25 Poll with 14 of the possible 16 first place votes for a total of 394 points followed by Pfeiffer (1 first place, 371), Harding (361), Saint Leo (357), Humboldt State (1 first place, 341), West Texas A&M (321), Southern Arkansas (294), Southern Indiana (281), North Georgia (268) and Cal State Monterey Bay (249) to round out the top ten.

The South Central Region was represented by Angelo State (1st), WT (6th), Colorado Mesa (11th), St. Mary's (14th) and Cameron (RV).

WT SOFTBALL IN THE NFCA TOP-25 POLL
The Lady Buffs have been ranked inside of the NFCA DIvision II Top-25 Poll for 51 straight weeks. The Lady Buffs have been ranked in the Top-5 in 39 polls since the start of the 2014 season while sitting atop of the poll an incredible 29 times.

LSC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (APR. 11)
HITTER
Shea Ibrahim, West Texas A&M
The South Jordan, Utah native hit an incredible .692 on the week with nine hits in 13 official at-bats with two doubles and three home runs to drive in nine RBI with 20 total bases for a slugging percentage of 1.538 while walking once and scoring six runs for an on-base clip of .714 with no strikeouts. At the hot corner, Ibrahim registered eight assists with no errors for a perfect fielding percentage.

PITCHER
Brandy Marlett, Angelo State
Marlett was stellar in the circle helping ASU become the first team in Division II to the 40-win plateau. The junior went 3-0 in three games with two shutouts in an 8-0 win over Texas A&M International and a 8-0 over Midwestern State. She threw 19.0 innings and only allowed one run on six hits. The Henderson, Nevada, native struck out 30 and surpassed 200 strikeouts for the season. She held teams to a .094 batting average and finished with a 0.37 ERA.

HOME SWEET HOME
The Lady Buffs have turned Schaeffer Park into one of the top home environments in all of NCAA Division II Softball. WT is 194-28 (.874) at Schaeffer Park since the facility opened prior to the 2011 season including 83-13 (.865) during regular season Lone Star Conference games in Canyon. 2016 marked the fifth time in the last six years ('11, '13, '14, '15, '16) that the Lady Buffs hosted NCAA Postseason action.

800 CAREER WINS
West Texas A&M head coach
Kevin Blaskowski became the 26th Division II skipper with 800 career wins while being just the 12th active head coach to reach the milestone with a 3-1 victory in Game 1 against Midwestern State on Saturday, March 25th at Schaeffer Park in Canyon.

NATIONALLY SPEAKING
Entering the week, the Lady Buffs led all of Division II Softball in slugging percentage (.693), on-base percentage (.476) and home runs per game (1.84) while ranking second in doubles per game (2.24), third in batting average (.384), fourth in double plays per game (0.55) and fifth in W/L percentage (.842).

Shea Ibrahim Shea Ibrahim continued to add to her already impressive resume on Wednesday afternoon as she was named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA)/Louisville Slugger Division II National Player of the Week. Ibrahim becomes the eighth player in Lady Buff history to be named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Player of the Week. She joins

THE LONE STAR CONFERENCE
Entering the week, LSC softball teams are 243-214 overall this season. In the Region, the group is currently 55-41 combined versus Heartland teams and 17-9 against the RMAC.
