Lady Buffs Remain Unbeaten in LSC Play with a Four Set Victory Over Midwestern State

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – West Texas A&M won the first two sets and held match point twice into the third before they pulled out a four set win on the road to remain unbeaten in the first weekend of Lone Star Conference play as the topped the rival Mustangs of Midwestern State (25-21, 26-24, 26-28, 25-18) on Saturday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum in a Highway 287 Challenge Cup Matchup in Wichita Falls, Texas during a Highway 287 Challenge Cup matchup. The Lady Buffs win their fourth straight match to move to 6-4 (2-0 LSC) while the Mustangs fall to 5-5 (1-1 LSC) on the season.
 
The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Michaela Montgomery and Crystal Thomas with nine kills each followed by Elise Bentsen and Cori Haley with eight kills each, freshman Selena Batiste dished out a team high 26 assists followed by Jessica Jackson with 12 while senior libero Lauren Britten registered 26 digs on the night followed by Haley with 15. WT registered 47 kills on 133 swings with 15 attack errors to hit .241 on the night with 43 assists, 76 digs and 16 total blocks in the win.

Midwestern State was led by Erin Richburg with 19 kills on 45 swings with five attack errors to hit .311 on the night while Meghan Bettis (16) and Sarah Garfield (12) also registered double-digit kills for the Mustangs, Kristan Aduddell dished out a match high 50 assists while Sabrina Angeles led MSU with 17 digs followed by Aduddell (11), Garfield (11) and Richburg (10) for double-doubles. The Mustangs registered 60 kills on 185 swings with 35 attack errors to hit .135 as a team to go along with 53 assists, 63 digs and five total blocks on the night.
 
UP NEXT
The Lady Buffs will return home to the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" as the host arguably the two hottest teams in the Lone Star Conference with matchups against #8 Angelo State and Tarleton State to continue LSC play.
