Defense Lifts West Texas A&M Past St. Edward’s in Straight Sets on Friday Afternoon at The Box

CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M fought off set point three different times in the third frame as they outlasted St. Edward's (25-22, 25-13, 28-26) on Friday afternoon in a South Central Regional matchup at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon, Texas. The Lady Buffs snap a three match losing streak to improve to 15-12 overall while the Hilltoppers fall to 10-16.
 
The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Cori Haley with nine kills on 22 swings with four attack errors to hit .227 on the afternoon followed by Carissa Henning with six, Selena Batiste dished out a match high 30 assists while Lauren Britten led the Lady Buffs with 22 digs followed by Haley with 10. WT registered 44 kills on 120 swings with 18 attack errors to hit .200 on the afternoon with 41 assists, 70 digs and nine total blocks in the win.
 
St. Edward's was led by Kate Hendrix who registered a match high 10 kills on 26 swings with three attack errors to hit .269 followed by Alexa McAndrew with seven kills, Jaclyn Billie dished out 18 assists followed by Avalon Frantz with 13 while Morgan Beckham led all players with 24 digs. The Hilltoppers registered 36 kills on 142 swings with 24 attack errors to hit .085 as a team with 34 assists, 55 digs and 8.5 total blocks in the loss.
