CANYON, Texas –
The Lady Buffs take part in their 22nd overall and 12th straight LSC Championship this weekend as they enter the event as the sixth-seed and face off with third-seeded Texas A&M-Kingsville on Thursday afternoon at 12 p.m. inside of the Junell Center in San Angelo.
 
- SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
TEXAS A&M-KINGSVILLE
The Javelinas are led by sixth year head coach Tanya Allen who has led TAMUK to five-straight LSC Tournaments.
 
Texas A&M-Kingsville enters the week with an overall record of 25-8 with a 14-6 mark in LSC play with home wins over Midwestern State and Cameron to end the regular season as they ran their win streak to five matches.
 
The Javelinas are led offensively by Krystal Faison with 390 kills (3.20/set) on 1,137 swings with 134 attack errors to hit .225 on the season, Casey Klobedans guides the TAMUK offense with 1,283 assists (10.60/set) while Krystal Puente leads the way defensively with 488 digs to average 4.00 per frame.
 
The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series with the Javelinas, 49-10 with the Lady Buffs falling in four sets to the Javelinas back on Nov. 4 in Canyon. WT is 2-0 all-time against the Javelinas in the LSC Tournament.

WT ended their 2016 regular season on a high note on Saturday night as they registered 13 total blocks to outlast the Lions of Texas A&M-Commerce (25-18, 15-25, 25-13, 25-21) in front of over 700 fans at the WTAMU Fieldhouse.
 
The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Bentsen with 13 kills on 23 swings with just two attack errors to hit .478 on the night followed by Haley with 11, Batiste dished out a match high 28 assists while Britten tallied 13 digs in her final match at The Box. WT registered 46 kills on 125 swings with 19 attack errors to hit .216 as a team with 40 assists, 50 digs and 13 total blocks.

West Texas A&M started fast and never looked back as they swept past the visiting Pioneers of Texas Woman's (25-13, 30-28, 25-12) in Lone Star Conference action on Senior Night at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" in Canyon in front of over 700 fans.
 
The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Taylor Kress with a career high 15 kills on 31 swings with five attack errors to hit .323 on the night followed by Cori Haley with 13 kills and 11 digs for a double-double, Selena Batiste paced the WT offense with 36 assists to go along with 11 digs for a double-double. WT registered 48 kills on 113 swings with 17 attack errors to hit .274 with 44 assists, 51 digs and seven total blocks.
 
THE LAST MEETING vs. TAMUK
The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M hit just .151 as a team with 22 attack errors as the visiting Javelinas of Texas A&M-Kingsville rolled to a four set Lone Star Conference win (25-27, 22-25, 14-25) in front of over 400 fans at the WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" on November 4th.
 
WT was led offensively by Cori Haley with 12 kills on 46 swings with eight errors to hit .087 on the night followed by Taylor Kress with 11 and Elisa Bentsen with 10, Selena Batiste dished out 35 assists on the night while Kyli Schulz led WT with 13 digs followed by Lauren Britten with 12. WT registered 44 kills on 146 swings with 22 attack errors to hit .151 on the night with 42 assists, 54 digs and 8.5 total blocks.
 
LADY BUFFS IN THE LSC TOURNAMENT
The Lady Buffs enter the 2016 LSC Tournament for the 22nd overall time and the 12th consecutive season. WT holds an overall record of 43-6 (.878) in the LSC Tournament. WT has made 16 appearances in the Championship Match with a 15-1 overall record as the Lady Buffs will be going for their 16th LSC Tournament Championship this weekend in San Angelo. WT was also the last host institition to win the LSC Championship (2013) as the last two hosts have failed to win the event (Tarleton State, 2015 | West Texas A&M, 2014).
 
HOME DOMINANCE
West Texas A&M is fortunate to have one of the best home environments in all of NCAA Volleyball, in any division. The WTAMU Fieldhouse is more affectionately known as "The Box," is home to 19 Lone Star Conference Championships, 13 Regional Titles and three NCAA Division II National Championships. The WTAMU Fieldhouse "The Box" boats one of the best home winning records in the NCAA on any level of competition. The Lady Buffs are 453-72 at The Box since the 1980 season for an incredible winning percentage of 86.4%.
 
WT HEAD COACH JASON SKOCH
WT head coach Jason Skoch, a four-time Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year, is now in his eighth season at the helm of the Lady Buffs, carrying an overall career record of 370-80 (.822, 12th year) including a 234-60 (.796) mark in Canyon. Skoch has led the Lady Buffs to seven appearances in the NCAA Postseason with three South Central Regional Titles and a National Runner-Up finish in 2009.

MOVING ON UP
Senior libero Lauren Britten is making her way up the program's all-time digs list as the Amarillo High School alumni currently sits in fourth place in the WT record books with 2,067 career digs. She is one of only four Lady Buffs in history with atleast 2,000 career digs and the Amarillo native currently sits 83 digs behind Brittani Bell (2,150 / 2002-05) for third place all-time.
