Lady Buffs Fall in Five Sets to Texas A&M-Kingsville in Lone Star Conference Action

KINGSVILLE, Texas – West Texas A&M took two of the first three sets before falling in five frames to Texas A&M-Kingsville on the road (25-18, 19-25, 25-23, 17-25, 11-15) in Lone Star Conference action on Friday night at the Steinke Center in Kingsville, Texas. The Lady Buffs snap a four-game win streak to fall to 10-6 (6-2 LSC) while the Javelinas improve to (13-5, 4-3 LSC).
 
The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Cori Haley with 14 kills on 42 swings with five attack errors to hit .214 on the night followed by Elisa Bentsen with 12 kills to go along with six blocks, Selena Batiste dished out a team high 29 assists followed by Kyli Schulz with 21 assists to go along with 15 digs for a double-double, Lauren Britten registered 24 digs followed by Rachel Rhoades with 15. WT registered 58 kills on 183 swings with 19 attack errors to hit .213 as a team with 56 assists, 82 digs and 10 total blocks.
 
Texas A&M-Kingsville was led by Krystal Faison with 19 kills on 58 swings with four attack errors to hit .259 on the night followed by Ashley Bukowski with 12 kills, Casey Klobedans dished out a match high 59 assists while Krystal Puente led the way defensively with 27 digs followed by Faison with 25 digs for the double-double. The Javelinas registered 68 kills on 189 swings with 28 attack errors to hit .212 as a team with 66 assists, 93 digs and 10 total blocks in the win.
 
The Lady Buffs return to action tomorrow afternoon as they take on the two-time defending South Central Regional Champion Lions of Arkansas-Fort Smith with first serve set for 2:30 p.m. at Bill Greehey Arena in San Antonio, Texas on the campus of St, Mary's University.
